Photos on Map lets you rediscover your trips by placing your geotagged photos on an interactive Google Map. The app reads GPS coordinates from your photos’ EXIF metadata and pins each picture at the location it was taken—fast, simple, and private. Key features Map view of your memories – Tap any marker to preview the photo. Fast startup – Smart on-device cache avoids re-scanning when your library hasn’t changed (even remembers photos without location). Live progress overlay – See exactly how many photos are being scanned. Camera-only filter – Focus on photos taken with your device’s camera (ignore WhatsApp/Downloads/Screenshots). No sign-in, no accounts – Works out of the box. Privacy All photo processing happens on your device. The app does not upload or share your photos or locations. Map tiles are provided by Google Maps and may use the internet to load. Permissions Photos (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES) to access your images. Media location (ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION, Android 10+) to read GPS coordinates from original files. Android 14+: You can grant “Selected photos only,” but results may be partial; you can switch to “All photos” anytime in Android settings. Tips If no markers appear, make sure your camera’s Save location option was enabled when taking the photos. Images shared by messaging apps (e.g., WhatsApp) often remove EXIF data; use originals from the Camera folder. Requirements Android 8.0 (Oreo) or newer. Internet recommended for map tiles.
