The Painting Code: Art Quiz

How little do you need to see? A masterpiece becomes a barcode of color. Can you name the painting before you reveal more? The Painting Code is a daily art quiz built around 500 public-domain paintings. Trust your eye, discover where masterpieces hang, and learn the stories behind them. FIVE PAINTINGS. ONE DAILY CHALLENGE. Play the same five paintings as everyone else each day. Start with 120 vertical strips of color and choose from four possible paintings. Pick an answer, then lock it in. SEE LESS. SCORE MORE. Name a painting from its colors for 100 points. Need another clue? Reveal a coarse mosaic for 70 points, then a soft-focus view for 40. A wrong answer scores zero. After you answer, the original painting is revealed. FIND WHERE IT HANGS. Choose the museum for a 50-point bonus on every painting. You can score up to 150 points per painting and 750 in a daily challenge. DISCOVER THE STORY. Every painting comes with its artist, date, museum, facts and a short story.
