Whisper

Speak softly. Share securely. Whisper is a private messenger for people who want their conversations to stay theirs. Chat directly between phones on the same Wi-Fi with no internet at all, or anywhere through an encrypted relay. Every message, photo and file is end-to-end encrypted. No phone number, no email, no account. TALK WITHOUT THE INTERNET Whisper finds your contacts on the same network and connects to them directly, so it keeps working on a cruise ship, at a festival, on a plane's Wi-Fi or anywhere the internet is down. To reach someone farther away, turn on the optional internet relay. It only forwards encrypted messages it can't read. YOU CONTROL WHO YOU TRUST Add contacts in person by scanning their QR code, or send a friend an invite link that gets them Whisper and adds you in one go. Each contact has a fingerprint you can compare face to face, so you know nobody has swapped their key. The names you give contacts are stored only on your phone. A VAULT FOR YOUR FILES Keep photos and files in Whisper's encrypted vault and send them straight from it. Take pictures with the built-in secure camera so they never touch your gallery. Location and camera details are removed from photos automatically. PROTECTED BY YOUR PIN AND YOUR PHONE'S HARDWARE Everything in Whisper is encrypted under your PIN, which is bound to your phone's secure hardware so it can't be guessed anywhere else. Repeated wrong guesses lock Whisper for longer and longer. Whisper locks and clears its keys from memory the moment you leave, unless you choose to stay connected in the background. DURESS PIN If you're ever forced to unlock Whisper, enter your duress PIN instead. Whisper silently erases every message, contact, vault file and your identity, then looks like a fresh install. Nobody can tell from the app whether a duress PIN is set. SECURE DELETION When you delete something, Whisper overwrites it with random data and destroys the key that could decrypt it. Set messages to expire per contact, or shred the vault, conversations, contacts or everything from Settings.
