Flick a stone into your friends' posts drawn in the sand. 2-4 players, free.
Sandsball is a game from childhood: goal posts drawn in the sand and a stone flicked with one finger.
A kid stomps a circle into the sand and drags out a post for every player. Then you take turns flicking the stone at the other players' posts. It only counts if the stone stops inside a post, and you score how far along it got, in centimetres. Then you dig your own post that much longer, any shape you like. A longer post is easier to hit, so every goal makes you a bigger target. The first post to reach the target length wins.
HOW TO PLAY
- Put your finger on the stone, pull back and let go. Judge your power: a full meter sends it right off the sand.
- Stop the stone inside someone else's post to score. The tape measure shows how many cm you got.
- Draw your own post longer by that many cm, always away from the circle.
- Watch the shot clock. Let it run out and you miss your next turn.
PLAY TOGETHER
- 2 to 4 players online: quick match, the open room list, or a private 4-letter room code to share with friends.
- 2 to 4 players on one phone: pass it round.
- Fill any seat with a computer player, or play the computer on your own.
- Nicknames only. No account, no sign-in.
FOUR PLACES TO PLAY
- Beach, with surf, gulls and families chatting up the sand.
- A desert town, with wind over the dunes and a market crowd in the distance.
- Night under a street lamp, with crickets and gentle waves.
- Sunset, with soft waves and birds settling.
Every map has its own natural sounds, and the sand itself scrapes, thuds and rolls as you play.
REAL SAND
Footprints, posts and grooves are dug into the ground as you play, and the stone rolls over every bump. Turn the view to face any way you like.
