Learn to read Sütterlin and old German handwriting in family letters
Found a box of family letters you can't read? Kurrino teaches you to read Kurrent script and Sütterlin – the old German handwriting used in letters, diaries and church records – so you can read them yourself. No uploads, no account, works offline.
LEARN LETTER BY LETTER
Twelve short lessons cover the whole alphabet of Kurrent script and Sütterlin: lowercase, capitals, the long s, ß, ch, ck, sch and tz. Every letter writes itself in front of you, with stroke order and a memory tip. A short test after each lesson checks that it has stuck.
MASTER YOUR MIX-UPS
e or n? h or f? Long s or f? The training remembers which letters of the German cursive you confuse and asks those pairs again until you recognise them reliably.
ONE MINUTE OF OLD GERMAN SCRIPT A DAY
The daily round: 30 words in 60 seconds, the same for everyone. Compare yourself on the daily leaderboard, keep your streak and challenge others to a duel – in Sütterlin or Kurrent.
