Just open it. Detects the VR format and plays it on your screen, no headset.
The moment you open it, it already looks right.
VR videos come in many formats. 180° or 360°. Two images side by side, or one above the other. If it's fisheye, how wide is the lens?
Unless someone picks the right one, you get a warped picture, or two pictures sitting next to each other.
Hiramie doesn't make you choose. Open a video and it already looks right.
No headset needed, either. Your screen becomes a window, and you look around inside it.
■ Detects the format automatically
• Equirectangular 180° / 360°
• Fisheye (180° / 190° / 200° / 220°)
• Stereo layouts (side by side, side by side swapped, top-bottom, top-bottom swapped) and mono
• Regular flat videos play as they are, too
It checks the file name, what the container declares, and the picture itself, in that order. Only when it gets it wrong do you pick by hand. The format you pick is remembered for that file.
■ Look around your way
• Swipe the screen
• Tilt your device (gyro)
• On-screen joystick
You can also change how the view is drawn (less distortion, straighter lines, and so on) and how fast you look around. Works in portrait, too.
■ Plays from wherever your videos are
• Videos on your device (listed by folder, with thumbnails)
• Play straight from a NAS or other home network share (SMB / WebDAV). No downloading
• Also opens videos from other apps via "Open with"
■ Everything you expect from a video player
• Playback speed, A-B repeat, resume where you left off
• Switch audio tracks, adjust audio delay
• Subtitles (embedded, a .srt next to the video, or pick a file; adjustable delay)
• Picture-in-picture
• Switch to another file in the same folder from a list
• Lock screen rotation, lock touch
■ Secret (hide folders and files)
In Settings, you can keep chosen folders and files out of this app's lists. Showing them again takes a password (or your face or fingerprint).
This works only inside this app. Files aren't moved or deleted, so other apps still see them as before.
■ What you can watch for free
This is so you can check that your own videos play properly before you buy.
Each video can be watched for up to 3 minutes in total, with every feature available. It counts per video, so you can try as many as you like: on your device and on your NAS, 180° and 360°.
Seeking is free. Moving the playback position doesn't use up time, so you can check a long video all the way to the end.
Used time doesn't come back. Closing and reopening the app doesn't restore it, so once a video's time is used up, you can't play it any further.
A one-time purchase removes the limit. There is nothing more to pay.
■ When you launch it
On launch, a screen shows the app's name and where to go (Device / Network). The background is itself a VR view. It moves when you swipe or tilt your device.
You can turn this screen off in Settings. Then the list appears right away.
Permission to read videos on your device is asked for only the first time you open "Device".
