Chirping: Offline Messenger

Chirping is a messenger that keeps working when the internet doesn't. Phones close together talk directly over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, so you can chat in a lecture hall with no signal, on a hiking trail, in the metro or during a network outage. When you're online, Chirping is a full messenger too: chats, groups, voice and video calls, Chipchip stories, channels and communities, with every private chat end-to-end encrypted. CHAT WITHOUT INTERNET • Message people within about 30–100 m. No SIM, mobile data or Wi-Fi network needed. • Find people and open groups around you, then start chatting with a tap. • Messages wait and send themselves the moment the other person comes back in range. • Nearby feed: short posts for everyone around you, hopping phone to phone. They disappear after 24 hours. A FULL MESSENGER ONLINE • Sign up with Google, your phone number or email. Find friends from your contacts. • Photos, videos, voice notes and files up to 100 MB. Share to Chirping from any app. • Edit photos before you send them: crop, rotate, filters, and markup with pen, highlighter and text. • Use the same account on two phones. Link a second phone and your chats are on both. • Reply, react, edit, pin, forward, polls, scheduled and disappearing messages. GROUPS • Groups that work online and nearby. • Admins, invite links and approval for new members. • Only Admins Can Send Messages, for announcements. • Remove someone and the group gets a new key, so they can't read what comes next. BROADCAST CHANNELS • Follow channels from your class, club, shop or city and get a notification for each post. • Start your own channel and broadcast to your subscribers. VOICE AND VIDEO CALLS • End-to-end encrypted voice and video calls. • Record a call if you need to. It's saved only on your phone, and the other person sees that you're recording. CHIPCHIP: MOMENTS FOR 12 HOURS • Share text, photos and videos with your contacts, online friends and people nearby. • Add a song from Audius, keep your streak and react with stickers. STICKERS AND GIFS • 193 original animated stickers, including a Diwali pack, and 611 animated emoji. • Make stickers from your photos and short videos, import sticker packs, search GIFs or send them from Gboard. CHIRPS COMMUNITIES • Join or create communities for your campus, city, hobby or anything else. • Post up to 10 photos and videos together, with link previews, polls and threads. • Swipe between Home, Popular, Communities and Saved. Repost, share and save right from the feed. • Search posts, comments and people, follow #hashtags and see what's trending. • Profiles, follows and notifications for replies and mentions. • Rules, flairs, AutoMod and a public mod log keep communities friendly. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Every message, call, Chipchip, reaction and file is end-to-end encrypted. Only the people in the chat can read it. • Your chats are stored on your phone. The server only relays encrypted messages and erases them after delivery. • Optional Chat Backup to your own Google Drive, encrypted with a passphrase only you know. • Strangers can't message you online until you accept their request. • App Lock, private notification previews, block and mute. No ads, analytics or trackers. MAKE IT YOURS • Moods with animated pandas and a song you choose, 500 profile pictures, 11 chat wallpapers. • Pick a profile name for people nearby, and rename anyone in your chats just for you. • Edit your profile photo: fit it to the circle, rotate it and add a look. Good to know: nearby messaging needs Chirping open on both phones, with Bluetooth and Location turned on. Android requires the Location permission to find nearby devices; Chirping only reads your location when you choose to send it, or look for communities near you (only a rough area is used). Channels and Chirps are public, so they aren't end-to-end encrypted. Your private chats and groups always are. Privacy policy: https://chirping.in/privacy/ Developed by Dr Faruk Biswas.
