Tonight's report comes from a dark arcade hall, where a neon air hockey table glows cyan and coral above a glossy floor. Face-off — Your mallet follows one finger around your half of the table while the disc rebounds off the rails and the posts. Slip it into the opening at the far end and the border pulses in the scorer's colour. First to seven takes the match. First period — The Ladder sets three opponents in a row: Rookie reacts late and leaves the corners open, Pro reads straight shots and guards the mouth of the goal, and Ace predicts rebounds and loves a rebound off the wall. Each step opens once the one before it is cleared, and every bot moves its mallet more slowly than yours. Second period — Margin decides the stars: one or two goals clear lights one, three or four light two, five or more light all three, with nine to collect on the ladder. Third period — Pass & Play puts two people on one phone, each guarding an end. In portrait the upper player's labels turn to face them, in landscape the table rotates to left and right, and each finger stays tied to its own half. Final horn — Records keeps nine figures, such as matches finished first, shot accuracy, goals off the wall and the longest streak, beside a history of your last 25 matches. Badges hold 16 neon tubes waiting to light up, from First Face-off to Hat Trick and Full Marquee. After the whistle, the Lore quiz asks ten questions per round from 24 checked facts on air hockey and ice hockey, from the first tables built in 1969 to the first indoor ice game in 1875, with three lives, a 15-second timer and a short note after each answer. There is no sound, only haptics, which can be switched off together with the moving wall of tubes behind the menus. Everything stays on your phone, with no internet, no ads and no account.
