Leren Gebaren: Sign Language

Learn Sign Language of the Netherlands (NGT, Nederlandse Gebarentaal) at your own pace, with videos of real signers. This app teaches the sign language used by Deaf people in the Netherlands. Every sign comes with its Dutch word and a translation in your language. LESSONS THAT BUILD ON EACH OTHER Follow a course from your first signs to an advanced level, in short lessons of a few minutes. Every lesson shows new signs, practices them in different ways and repeats them right on time. Choose your starting level, skip a theme or follow a course for children. PRACTICE YOUR WAY • Multiple choice, pictures, typing, memory, matching pairs and a speed round • Sentences: what does the signer say, which sign is in the sentence, and put the signs in the right order • For sentences, choose between the real signer and an animated version • Is it right? Swipe as many right signs as you can against the clock and get on the scoreboard FINGERSPELLING ALPHABET Learn the Dutch fingerspelling alphabet in six lessons and spell letters to your camera. Handshape recognition runs entirely on your device; no camera image is sent to us. DICTIONARY More than three thousand signs and thousands of example sentences. See which words share the same sign, and pause a video or step through it frame by frame. COLLECTIONS AND YOUR OWN RECORDINGS Make your own collections, share them with a link or QR code and discover collections made by others. With an account you can also record your own signs and sentences and practice them along with the rest. IN YOUR LANGUAGE The app and the translations under every sign are available in Dutch, English, German, Turkish, French, Spanish, Italian, Afrikaans, Japanese, Arabic, Ukrainian and Kurdish. You can practice without an account.
