Description

Drag a Skew-T sounding and lift an air parcel to read CAPE and CIN.

Dasu Urfe Ampa is a hands-on atmospheric-science workbench for exploring how clouds and thunderstorms form. Instead of only reading about convection, you edit a real vertical profile of the atmosphere — a sounding — on a Skew-T / log-P diagram and watch the physics respond instantly. Drag the temperature and dewpoint curves, or nudge the surface air parcel with a custom slider, and the app lifts that parcel through the atmosphere in real time: dry-adiabatically up to the lifting condensation level (cloud base), then along the moist adiabat above it. It shades the positive (CAPE) and negative (CIN) energy areas, draws the parcel's path, and marks the key levels — the LCL, the level of free convection (LFC) and the equilibrium level (cloud top). All of this is genuine numerical thermodynamics computed on your device: the Bolton saturation-vapour formula, an iterative LCL solve, a numerically integrated moist adiabat, and an energy integral for CAPE and CIN. It is a working solver, not a lookup table. Main features: • Lab — a live, draggable Skew-T editor with a custom parcel slider, shaded CAPE/CIN regions and a storm-risk badge that updates as you edit. • Library — save your soundings and build a collection alongside realistic presets (classic supercell, capped high plains, tropical maritime, morning inversion and more); load any of them back with a tap. • Analysis — ring gauges for CAPE and CIN, a parcel-versus-environment profile chart, and a diverging per-layer buoyancy chart you can tap to read. • Guide — a labelled convective-cell cutaway with a draggable altitude scrubber, plus concept cards explaining CAPE, CIN, the LCL, the LFC and how a Skew-T diagram works. • Sky reference photo — attach a camera or gallery photo of the real sky to a saved sounding, so you can compare the model's prediction with what the atmosphere actually did. • Settings — switch between °C and °F, toggle haptics, and reset all data back to a fresh install. The core work in Dasu Urfe Ampa happens on your device: the sounding editor, the physics engine, your saved library and your photos all stay on your device, with no accounts and no ads. A network connection is used at start-up for a connectivity check, and the Privacy Policy — and, on iOS, the Terms — open live in an in-app web view. Dasu Urfe Ampa turns an expert forecasting instrument into something you can operate with your fingertips — a genuine tool for students, weather enthusiasts and anyone curious about why the sky does what it does.
