First the control room, then the city: find the cause, lead the teams.
Incident Commander: Blackout
One night the power grid fails, and you are in command.
Incident Commander: Blackout tells one connected campaign in three chapters. First you work in the control room of a fictional grid operator, tracking down the cause of faults in its systems. Then the regional grid trips, and you lead a city's response teams through the total blackout and through the storm night that follows.
CHAPTERS 1 AND 2: THE CONTROL ROOM
• Ten services in three layers that depend on each other: when something fails below, the services above suffer too.
• Four specialists for systems, network, security and applications. Each can investigate, stabilize, fix or validate.
• Investigate first, then change: a change without a confirmed finding makes things worse.
• Not every loud alert is the cause. False alarms are part of the job.
• A change freeze holds back a risky scheduled release.
• Management, customers and partners expect updates, or their trust drops.
CHAPTER 3: THE CITY
• Three districts, six response teams and four scarce resources: power, fuel, crew and material.
• Every situation needs the right team. A second team can support and limit the damage.
• Leave a situation too long and it escalates, costing the city's trust.
• Eight upgrades that unlock as the operation goes on.
• Two scenarios with twelve events each: the total blackout and the storm night, when material runs short.
