Illustrated invention stories, narrated aloud. You pick what we cover next.
Wonder Inventions turns real inventions into illustrated stories worth reading — narrated aloud, free to read, in more than ten languages. A machine that changed how people worked, a discovery that arrived by accident, a stubborn mind that would not stop, a small idea that quietly rebuilt daily life — every one is a story here.
YOU ARE NOT JUST READING THIS LIBRARY. YOU ARE BUILDING IT.
Most apps ask for a star rating. This one asks you what to make next — and then makes it.
Nothing in this library is ever finished, and that is the point. An illustration you flag can be repainted. A story that is not working can be rewritten. A mistake can be corrected in days, not editions. No printed book can do that.
So we will keep asking:
• Which invention or inventor should we cover next?
• Which illustration style do you want more of?
• Which part of the library do you actually use?
• Later: which inventors to follow, so we can build a series around them?
Always a tap, never a form — pick an option and get back to reading.
To be straight with you: nothing changes because one person said so. But when the same signal arrives from enough readers, that becomes the plan, and it gets built. Come back in a few weeks and look for the thing you asked for.
HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF IT
• Press play once and put the phone down. Narration continues page after page, hands-free, words lighting up as they are spoken.
• Switch language any time from the reader. The story and the interface follow.
• Tap the download icon before you travel. The text stays readable with no connection.
• Flag anything that looks wrong. That is not a complaint box — it is how the next version gets written.
• Choose the Kids or Adults shelf. They are separate collections, not the same stories relabelled.
A FREE LIBRARY YOU CAN READ WITHOUT PAYING
Every story opens without an account and without payment. No ads. No in-app purchases. No interruptions. Sections we add later may be paid.
READ IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE
The app works in English, Arabic, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Turkish, Persian and Chinese — so more people can read how the modern world was built. Most stories are narrated in English, with more narration languages on the way.
THE MACHINES THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
More than 150 stories open today: How Gutenberg Changed the World, How the Steam Engine Changed Everything, Alexander Graham Bell's First Call, Alan Turing and the Codebreaking Machine, How the Microchip Was Invented, How the Internet Was Built — told as stories about the moment something finally worked, not as a list of patents.
AND THE THINGS YOU USE EVERY DAY
The Invention of Paper. The Invention of Eyeglasses. The Invention of the Ballpoint Pen. The Invention of the Computer Mouse. The Invention of the First Video Game. How QR Codes Were Invented. Ordinary objects hide stories, illustrated the whole way through — a curious question becomes a book you finish in one sitting.
FOR CLASSROOMS AND HOME LEARNING
Read-along narration supports developing and second-language readers. Offline downloads mean a lesson never depends on the connection. No account, no ads, no data harvesting — hand it to a class or a child directly.
Reading never requires an account. Sign in only to sync your favourites, streaks and reading progress across your devices.
BEGUN IN 2016
Wonder Inventions is part of WonderBooks, which opened in 2016 as one small reading app and earned 4.9 stars from 977 readers. That year it was picked top 10 of some 155 startups to pitch at Harvard Arab Weekend. Growing it into every subject and thirteen languages was not possible then, and is now. Readers decide where it goes next.
What's new
Fixes a crash that could close the app while you were reading, and cuts how much memory the library uses while it loads. Smoother page turns, and fewer freezes on older phones.
