The app 📱 turns that into a contact contribution weighted by what the stone actually is. A soft 1000-grit waterstone reaches its threshold in a fraction of the hones a diamond plate needs, because the shipped medium library covers waterstone, oilstone, diamond plate, ceramic and natural stone, each with its own dishing rate, soak requirement and lapping guidance. When a stone crosses its threshold, record the lapping: which medium you used, how many passes the hollow took to disappear, and the estimated depth removed. Passes-to-flat is trended on a sparkline, so a stone that takes more work each time ⏱️ to reach flat is reporting its own decline. That depth steps down a thickness ledger, giving you remaining service life per stone rather than an undated purchase.
