Story Fork Compass

A story opens ahead of you, and at every fork it stops for your call. The next events are laid out, and you pick the one that feels right; the tale follows that path and leaves the other roads behind. You won't know where a branch ends until you get there, so your choices add up quietly until the final scene. Different roads reach different endings, and part of the pull is wondering what waited down the one you didn't take.
