Tamburello

Tamburello is a rhythm game about the pizzica, the trance dance of Salento in the heel of Italy. You are the drummer in a ring of dancers on a summer night. The drum skin is your controller: tap it on every beat and run your thumb round the rim for the jingle rolls, while each tune speeds up from its first bar to its last, the way a real pizzica does. After every tune, the old drummer Zio Uccio reads your timing and tells you the one thing to fix: you rushed ahead of the dancers, you dragged, you lost it when the tempo climbed, or your rolls went thin. He writes every note in his notebook, so you can see what he keeps telling you. Earn red scarves to open the next festival night and to unlock painted skins for your drum. Features: • Twelve traditional tunes in 6/8, from a slow griko serenade to a galloping finale • Four festival nights: a Melpignano piazza, Galatina on the feast of San Paolo, Otranto harbour and La Notte della Taranta • Tap-the-skin and circle-the-rim controls with a note strip that shows the tempo climbing • Zio Uccio's corrections after every song, plus a timing chart of your hits • Live weather from each town sets the goat skin's tension and your timing window • Painted drum skins unlocked by scarves, plus your own photo from the camera or gallery in the centre • Optional evening practice reminder Pick up the drum, the accordion is already playing.
