Description
Three wishes. Every one of them granted, at a price. A lamp-lit horror ritual.
A dried paw lies on the table where the sergeant-major dropped it. Hold it up in your right hand and wish aloud.
THE MONKEY'S PAW recreates W. W. Jacobs' 1902 story as a ritual you perform yourself. Speak or type a wish; the paw twists in your hand, and one leathery finger curls shut. Then the consequence is told to you in the voice of the story: a stranger at the gate, a sum paid to the penny, a knock at the door that you did not want to hear.
• A real 3D paw on an oak table, lit by one oil lamp. Turn it, bring it close, watch it move.
• Three wishes, each granted through an unintended price written for the kind of wish you made (money, love, life, success, revenge, escape…).
• The second wish brings the knocking. With headphones you will hear where it comes from.
• Haptics that match the twitch of the paw and the blows on the door.
• Wind, rain on the window, the clock and the fire, looping without a seam.
• Your own wishes are never stored or sent anywhere.
• Nine languages.
Three wishes to three men, the fakir said. The paw has been passed on before. When it is spent, you may pass it on again.
