Sunlight falls between the columns onto a bare mortar floor. You swipe, and your bronze setter glides across it until it meets a marble wall, laying coloured tesserae in every cell it crosses. Roll through an amphora and the setter picks up a new colour. The pattern is ghosted beneath your feet; your job is to make the floor match it exactly. POMPEII A baker's modest floor to begin. Ten mosaics, from Cave Canem and Dolphin to Peacock and Medusa, teach you that order matters: cross a set cell again and it takes your current colour. OSTIA Merchants' halls by the harbour: Lighthouse, Octopus, Neptune and Galley. Longer routes, more amphorae, and Undo or Hint when a plan goes astray. PALATINE The emperor's own rooms close the thirty floors, with Gladiator, Colosseum, Phoenix and Imperator. Lay a floor within par for three stars and a gilt frame in your Gallery. THE WORKSHOP Spend denarii on six tesserae sets, from Pompeian Red to Byzantine Glass and Ravenna Night. Denarii are earned only by laying floors; there are no ads, no purchases and no account, everything runs offline, and it fits phones and tablets. Every day a new patron calls with a Daily Commission of their own, and on every floor, from the first to the last, the same rule holds you to account: the last pass wins.
