Turn-based hex tactics: lead a mercenary company through a fantasy war.
Your captain is three days in the ground. His company passes to you: five banners, a cart with one good wheel, and a debt nobody will say aloud.
Banners for Hire is a turn-based fantasy wargame on a hex map, in the tradition of the classic hex wargames. Take contracts across a realm at war, keep your sellswords paid, and decide which of three powers deserves your banner, if any.
TACTICS THAT REWARD THOUGHT
• Hex battles with terrain, line of sight, zones of control, flanking, charges, support fire and morale
• Every attack shows an honest forecast before you commit; no hidden luck
• Undo moves and rewind whole turns, or play Ironman with every order standing
• Fog of war on night raids and in thick forest, and weather that turns a battle: rain, snow and mist
• An enemy AI that plays by your rules and sees only what its soldiers see
A COMPANY WORTH REMEMBERING
• Named banners that gain ranks, earn traits and carry scars
• A Captain's skill tree, two lieutenants with their own stories, and rare specialists for hire
• Recruits with backgrounds, items to salvage and reforge, relic sets, and a memorial for the fallen
• Camp buildings, research, markets, renown and company perks
A LIVING CAMPAIGN
• A hand-written, voiced three-act story with separate paths for each patron and six endings, one of them secret
• Powers win and lose regions; reputation opens doors and sends hunters after you
• Explore caves, towers and shrines for treasure, recruits or something worse
• Choices that matter, and after an ending you can see what each one did
ENDLESS PLAY
• Daily and weekly contracts, the same battle for everyone
• Skirmish and a scenario editor, with maps you can share as codes
• Company runs: ten contracts, one life
• Ten notoriety tiers and New Game+
