A single trampoline bounce sends the character soaring well above the current camera view, covering altitude that would otherwise require many sequential jumps. Trampolines function as fixed platforms, they are always in position and never disappear. The exceptional boost height is their defining property. On a normal solid platform, the character rises a few screen heights; on a trampoline, the launch covers a much larger portion of the game's vertical world. The practical use of a trampoline is to clear large gaps in the platform layout. When the layout above is sparse, few platforms visible between the current position and a cluster several heights up, a trampoline jump bridges the entire gap in one move. Managing the landing after a trampoline jump is the challenge. Because the character rises so high, the platform layout at the peak of the jump may differ significantly from what was visible at the trampoline level. Adjusting horizontal position during the ascent determines which platform you land on at the top. Trampolines are the rarest and most powerful platform type in Doodle Jump.
