Western, Eastern Europe and the Americas side by side on one offline timeline.
Most history is taught one country at a time. You learn the French Revolution,
then later you learn about Catherine the Great, and nothing ever tells you they
were the same afternoon. Western History Timeline fixes that.
Scroll down and you move through time. Scroll across and you move between
Western Europe, Eastern Europe and the Middle East, and the Americas. Both axes
stay locked together, so whatever period you are looking at, you see all three
regions at once — and the comparison stops being an exercise and starts being
obvious.
WHAT IS INSIDE
• 96 events across four acts, from Sumer and the first cities to the end of the
Cold War. Every act carries eight events in each of the three regions, so no
period leaves a column empty.
• A cross-scroll timeline where each card sits at its real date. Where events
crowd together the cards step aside, and a marker stays behind on the rail at
the true year, joined to the card by a curve — so a nudged card never misleads
you about when something happened.
• Tap any event for the full account, plus two lists that are the point of the
app: what was happening in the other regions at the same moment, and which
events this one is tied to. Follow those links and you can wander the whole
period sideways.
• 1,009 quiz questions with explanations. 170 are written by hand about the
substance of events; the rest are built from the timeline data itself — dates,
regions, categories, chronological order and overlapping periods — so nothing
is invented and the answers are always checkable against the content.
• Choose the act, the number of questions and the difficulty, then see your
reading and your accuracy tracked per act.
THE FOUR ACTS
🏛️ The Ancient Mediterranean and the Birth of Empire — Sumer, Egypt, Athens,
Rome, and the first cities of Peru and Mesoamerica.
⚔️ Medieval Feudalism and a God-Centred Society — Charlemagne, the Crusades,
the rise of Islam, Kievan Rus, the Maya and the Inca.
🌍 Awakening, Expansion and Absolute Monarchy — the Renaissance, the Reformation,
the Ottomans at Vienna, and the conquest of the Americas.
🏭 The Age of Revolution and the Global World — industry, revolution, empire,
two world wars and the Cold War.
FIVE LANGUAGES, ALL OF IT
English, Korean, French, German and Spanish — and that means all of it, not just
the buttons. Every event description, every quiz question, every explanation
exists in all five. Switch language in Settings and the entire app changes
instantly, including the history itself. The app starts in your device's
language and falls back to English if it does not ship yours.
BUILT TO WORK OFFLINE
Everything is inside the app. There is no account to create, no sign-in, no
server of ours, and nothing you read or answer is ever sent anywhere — it stays
on your device, and you can erase it whenever you like from Settings. On a
plane, on the underground, or with data switched off, it behaves exactly the
same.
The app is supported by a single banner advert at the bottom of the screen. In
Europe you are asked for your consent before any advert is requested, and you
can revisit that choice at any time from Settings.
Made for students, teachers, pub-quiz regulars, and anyone who has ever wondered
what the rest of the world was doing while something famous was going on.
