Show travel phrases big in the local language and play them in natural voices
Travel Phrase Pocket is an offline travel phrasebook. It shows ready-made phrases full-screen in the local language and plays them with natural AI voices, from the airport and hotel to restaurants, shops and the pharmacy. It works with no signal and in airplane mode.
Can't speak the language? Show it. The other person answers by pointing at big answer cards, so the conversation keeps going even if you can't follow them.
KEY FEATURES
■ 38 languages, 16 situations, 258 phrases
English, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Arabic, French, German, Spanish, Russian and more. Pick a phrase by situation: basics, when you're not understood, airport, taxi/train/bus, hotel, restaurant, allergies and diets, shopping, money, sightseeing, directions, trouble, emergency, hospital and pharmacy, Wi-Fi and phone, making friends.
Examples: "Could you say that again?", "Where can I get a taxi?", "Can I pay by card?", "My wallet was stolen."
■ Big text for the person in front of you
Each phrase opens in the largest size that fits, with romanization for non-Latin scripts. For someone across the table, one tap turns only the text upside down; your buttons stay on your side, so you never hand over your phone. Turn the phone sideways for bigger text; black on white, white on black or yellow on black, at full brightness for sunlight. Swipe for the next phrase.
■ Natural AI voices, even offline
Every built-in phrase has a natural AI-generated voice stored in the app, so it plays with no internet and no voice data on your phone. Questions rise at the end the way people really ask them. Use Slow playback when needed.
■ Point to answer
Questions like "Where is the restroom?" come with big answer cards (right, left, straight ahead, yes, no…). The answer they tap appears large in your own language.
■ Phrases that match the speaker
In some languages the sentence changes with the speaker's gender, like Thai polite endings (khrap / kha) or Spanish "perdido / perdida". Choose male or female and every phrase switches, with female forms read by a female voice.
■ Allergy & diet card
Choose what you can't eat (peanuts, nuts, shellfish, fish, eggs, dairy, wheat, soy, sesame, pork, beef, vegetarian, vegan…) and get one card in the local language, with a warning that even a small amount is dangerous and a question staff can answer by pointing. Free, because it is about safety.
■ Emergency phrases
"Help!", "Please call the police" and "Please call an ambulance" open straight from the home screen or the app icon's shortcuts.
■ Numbers & prices
Show prices, times or room numbers in big digits and play them aloud.
■ Search, favorites, history
Search in your language, theirs or the reading; accents and case are ignored. Star phrases to keep them in Favorites, and find recent ones in Recently used.
■ Voice check & backups
Your own phrases and typed card details use your phone's voice data; Tools › Voices for offline use shows which languages work offline. Favorites, My phrases and cards are backed up daily and can be exported for a new phone.
