Car bill of sale on your phone: fill it in, both sign on screen, PDF to both
Selling or buying a car, motorcycle, boat or trailer? Fill in the bill of sale on your phone, sign it on the screen together, and email the PDF to both of you. Or print it and sign on paper.
WHAT IS IN THE BILL OF SALE
• Seller and buyer: name, address, phone
• Car, truck or SUV: year, make, model, VIN, color, license plate, odometer reading, lien holder
• Motorcycle: VIN, engine number, odometer
• Boat: hull ID (HIN), registration number, engine, trailer included or not
• Trailer: VIN, type, length, plate
• Price in numbers and in words, payment method, who pays sales tax
• "As is" sale or your own warranty terms
• Odometer statement: actual mileage, exceeds mechanical limits, or not actual
HOW IT WORKS
1. Pick the vehicle type and fill in the fields. Your draft saves itself.
2. Read the bill of sale in the PDF preview.
3. Seller and buyer each sign with a finger. Any change after signing removes the signatures.
4. Email the PDF to both, share it, or print it.
GOOD TO KNOW
A bill of sale signed on screen is valid between the two of you under the federal E-SIGN Act, but a DMV can set its own rules and some want ink signatures. Some states want a notarized bill of sale in some cases. The bill of sale does not replace the title: the seller still signs the title, with its odometer statement. When in doubt, print and sign by hand.
