NeuroTone: Binaural Beats

Tones generated on your phone, in real time. No audio files, no streaming, no account. Most apps in this category fail in the same few ways: the frequency you are actually hearing is never shown, the audio is a short loop that seams every few minutes, the useful half sits behind a subscription, and a "no data collected" badge sits above an app full of trackers. NeuroTone is built against all four. THE NUMBERS ARE THE PRODUCT Every screen shows the exact frequency in each ear. A binaural beat reads L 200.00 Hz, R 200.50 Hz, with the 0.50 Hz difference named directly — the carrier, both channels, and the beat itself. A Solfeggio tone shows its single value in both ears. If you cannot see what you are listening to, you cannot tell whether it is what it claims. SYNTHESISED, NOT STREAMED There is not one audio file in this app. Every tone is generated as it plays, from a phase accumulator running at your device's own output rate — so a session can be any length without a loop seam, and the beat stays exact to the sample clock for hours rather than drifting. It is also why the whole app is under 2 MB. SIXTEEN FREQUENCIES, TWO TAPS AWAY Seven binaural beats on the classic brainwave bands — Epsilon 0.5, Delta 2, Theta 6, Schumann 7.83, Alpha 10, Beta 20 and Gamma 40 Hz, all on a 200 Hz carrier — plus nine Solfeggio pure tones from 174 to 963 Hz. They are grouped the way you would look for them: meditation, sleep, focus and Solfeggio. From launch it is one tile and one START button to sound. No wall of sliders. NO NETWORK. AT ALL. NeuroTone is completely offline. That is not a promise, it is a property of the build: the app does not request the INTERNET permission, so it cannot send anything anywhere. No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no account, no sign-in. Your session history is a database on your phone — export it as CSV or erase it, both from Settings. BUILT FOR A DARK ROOM Three colour palettes, each in light and dark, or follow the system. The session screen can dim itself after a minute or five and keep playing. It detects your headphones and tells you when a binaural beat will not work — then stops rather than pretending, because two tones mixed in the air are no longer a beat. ACCESSIBILITY, MEASURED RATHER THAN ASSUMED Text contrast was measured across all six colour schemes and corrected until every one passed. Every control is at least 48 dp. TalkBack reads the session state, and the countdown announces on five-minute boundaries instead of chattering every second. Reduced-motion settings are honoured. WHAT THIS APP IS NOT NeuroTone is a sound generator for relaxation and focus practice. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. The description attached to each frequency says what people report using it for — nothing more. Start at a low volume: sustained listening at high volume can damage your hearing. Do not use while driving or operating machinery. If you have epilepsy or any seizure disorder, a pacemaker or other implanted device, or you are pregnant, consult a doctor before use.
