Each fresh link differs from the one before by a single letter, and the links stretch along like a trail until they reach the yellow flag holding the target word. Please listen to the following announcements. Now boarding: the first link Your start word sits in an orange link. Tap one of its letters, then a key on the tray of 26 round letters below. A strip under the play area says how many letters already match the goal. Mind the gap Every link must be a real word. Undo takes a step back, and a Nudge hint helps when you get stuck. Keep adding links in as few steps as you can until you join the flag. Tickets Par is the shortest possible route. Matching it gives three suns, two extra links give two, and anything longer gives one. This service calls at 36 stations on 6 coloured lines laid out like a transit map: Short, Harbour, Market, River, Hill and finally Summit. Stations open in order, from short three-letter puzzles up to par 8. Change here for Duo Two players, one phone, 3 or 5 rounds. Both tackle the same puzzle in turn, with a pass-the-phone screen in between, and fewer links takes the round. Passing counts as par plus five. Also at this station A quiz on languages and dictionaries asks 10 questions per round from 24 real facts, from the first English dictionaries to scripts written right to left, each with a short explanation.
