Decode resistor color bands and SMD codes, check values and use circuit tools
Resistor color code calculations help you turn the bands on a component into a resistance value, or turn a typed value into the colors to look for. Choose 3, 4, 5 or 6 bands, enter what you see and check the nominal resistance, tolerance range and six-band temperature coefficient. Use it beside your parts tray, while studying electronics or when planning a circuit on the bench.
READ BANDS IN BOTH DIRECTIONS
Each color chip has a name and a meaning for its position, such as digit, multiplier or tolerance. The app checks the whole sequence from both ends. If both readings are valid, it shows both: colors alone cannot settle the physical reading direction. Invalid band positions are identified so you can check the part again.
VALUE TO COLOURS
Enter resistance in forms such as 4.7k, 4k7, 1M2 or 0R22. If the selected number of bands cannot hold all significant digits, the app warns you and offers a suitable band count or a nearby value with its deviation. View plain ohms, RKM notation, E-series membership and neighboring standard values. The series reference covers E3 through E192.
SMD AND OTHER COMPONENT MARKINGS
Type a printed code and choose the component type. Resistor codes include three digits, four digits, R notation and EIA-96. Capacitor and inductor code interpretation is also included. When a marking fits more than one supported system, review each interpretation rather than assuming there is only one answer. These are calculations from manual input, not camera recognition or electrical measurements.
TOOLS FOR THE ELECTRONICS BENCH
Find nearby single resistances and series or parallel pairs from E12, E24 or E96. Work out resistor pairs for an unloaded voltage divider. Calculate an LED series resistor from supply voltage, forward voltage and current, then see the next E24 value and resulting current. Solve Ohm's law using any two of voltage, current, resistance and power. Suggested power ratings use a 2× dissipation margin as a rule of thumb, not a safety approval.
SAVE AND REVIEW
Save a band reading, printed-code result or tool calculation. Review up to 200 saved results, delete entries and reopen stored band sets when you need to check them again. Keeping the result helps you compare it with your component notes without claiming that the physical part has been measured.
LIMITS AND QUESTIONS
Can this replace a multimeter? No: it decodes the colors and markings you enter and calculates from supplied values. Actual resistance and circuit behavior depend on the real parts and conditions. Printed colors vary with the maker and lighting; unfamiliar markings may not match a supported system. Confirm critical components with a multimeter and use component datasheets for circuit decisions. Divider results assume an unloaded output, and LED calculations depend on the forward voltage you enter.
The app contains advertisements and uses Firebase Analytics and network services for ads and configuration. Calculations and suggested values are reference aids, not certified measurements of a component or circuit.
Що нового
Tap band 1 on “Bands” and the colour sheet now stays open, stepping from “Band 1 · digit” through each band until the last colour closes it. A step counter, “Done” and a mini resistor with the current band marked sit in the sheet; “Done”, a tap outside or Back keeps what you picked. Other bands open a one-pick edit as before. Picks are ignored for 250 ms after each step.
