Your phone camera writes down every move of a real chess game. Live on Lichess.
Chessboard Cam follows a real chess game with your phone’s camera and writes down every move — no electronic board, no sensors, no buttons to press during the game.
HOW IT WORKS
• Put the phone on a tripod or a stand above the board, tilted a little.
• Set up the pieces in the start position and tap Play.
• Play as usual. The digital board on the screen repeats every move.
BROADCAST ON LICHESS
Connect your Lichess account, pick the tournament and round, enter the players — and the game goes live as you play. Great for club games, small tournaments and games at home that friends want to follow.
EVERY GAME KEPT
Games are saved on the phone with the players, ratings and result. Review them move by move and share them as PGN.
EVAL BAR AND BEST MOVE
Stockfish runs on the phone: see who is better and, if you want, the engine’s best move.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Recognition runs on the device. The camera picture never leaves your phone.
PHONES AND TABLETS
Portrait or landscape; on bigger screens the board and the camera sit side by side.
HONESTLY
Recognition is not 100%: a steep angle, poor light or a very fast game can make it miss a move. Watch the digital board and take a move back when needed. The game must start from the start position.
Chessboard Cam is a hobby project made by chess players. It is free with ads; any purchase — even one coffee — turns the ads off for good.
