Minimalist gesture launcher: the date, web search, and a key to your passwords.
A black screen, the date, and almost nothing else.
Blauncher is a minimalist, gesture-driven home screen launcher for Android: free, open source, private, and distraction-free. The home screen is the date up top and, along the bottom, a search bar beside a shortcut button for your password manager. No app icons, no dock, and no widgets. Tap the search bar for your apps. Long-press empty space for settings.
HOME SCREEN
• Tap the date for your calendar, or long-press it to choose another app. Place the date left, center, or right.
• One search bar for your apps and the web: tap it and your app categories are listed under it, giving way to the matching apps as you type. Tap an app to open it; Enter searches the web. The bar grows to a few lines, then scrolls, and unsent text stays as a draft. A web search opens your default browser on the engine you picked: divid3, a private search router, by default, or DuckDuckGo, Google, Bing, Brave, Kagi, Startpage, Ecosia, Perplexity, or ChatGPT. Or choose Browser default and let the browser search. The launcher itself makes no network request.
• The shortcut button beside the search bar opens your password manager. It binds to one you already have (Bitwarden, 1Password, Proton Pass, KeePassDX, and others); point it at any app and pick from some thirty glyphs.
• Swipe up, left and right open three apps you choose; the first swipe each way asks which. Swipe down for notifications, or for search.
YOUR APPS
• Home and the app drawer are one surface: tap the search bar and it rides to the top with your categories below it. Swipe down or go back to close.
• An app opens only when you tap it, so Enter always searches the web.
• With nothing typed, your apps are a short list of categories sorted on the device, such as Agents, People, Focus, News, Media, and Tools, each with a colored glyph. Tap one to list its apps.
• Long-press an app to rename it or set its categories (more than one, if you like).
• A Private Space, when the device has one, sits at the bottom of the drawer behind a tap to unlock.
THROUGH THE DAY
• Groups shift with the time of day: news in the morning, focus apps during work hours, media in the evening, sleep and meditation apps at night, then sharpen from the apps you actually open. Inside each group, the apps you open most come first.
• Learning stays on this device. It uses only launches made inside the launcher, never the system usage-stats API, and fades after a couple of weeks.
• Pin any groups to the top. Agents is pinned by default. Reset the learning whenever you want.
EASY TO LEARN, ANYWHERE
• On first run a small card teaches the gestures one at a time (the search bar, long-press, the date and the shortcut) and goes away once you have used them.
• Settings > Help and FAQ lists every gesture on one page, answers common questions, and brings the tips back. Send feedback opens a GitHub issue for bugs and ideas.
• Phones stay in portrait. Tablets, foldables and Chromebooks rotate freely and keep your place when you rotate, fold or resize.
• With a keyboard or mouse, the wheel or Enter opens your apps, a letter key starts a search with it, and right-click opens settings.
• TalkBack gets every gesture as an action, and back is predictive.
PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION
• No internet permission. Nothing is sent off the device. No usage-stats access, no accounts, no sync, no analytics, no tracking, no accessibility service, and no launcher-managed wallpaper.
• What it learns, and any unsent search draft, stays in local preferences and is excluded from device backups.
NO NONSENSE
Blauncher is free. No ads, no in-app purchases, no network permission, no tracking. Requires Android 15 or newer.
Fewer icons, less scrolling, more focus. Set Blauncher as your home app and give your phone a quieter start.
Blauncher began as a fork of the open-source Olauncher by Tanuj Notes and is released under GPL-3.0.
