Tagsmith: Music Tag Editor

A tidy music library in minutes, not evenings. Tagsmith is a music tag editor for people who keep their own music: MP3s from old CDs, FLAC albums, M4A files moved off iTunes, songs on a USB stick for the car or a library for Plex and Poweramp. Fix titles, artists, albums and track numbers, add album art that every player actually shows, and rename files from their tags. Everything is written straight into the audio file, so the result travels with your music. EDIT EVERY FIELD • Title, artist, album, album artist, track and disc numbers, year, genre, composer, comment and lyrics. • See the format, bitrate and size of each song next to its tags. • Unsaved changes are highlighted, and one tap reverts a field. ALBUM ART THAT STICKS • Add a cover from your gallery and crop it to a perfect square. • Find the real cover on the web from the Cover Art Archive, up to 1200 pixels. • Art is embedded the standard way and the system media library is refreshed, so the cover shows up in your music player, car display and file manager, not only here. • Remove a wrong or oversized cover in one tap. BATCH EDITING • Select a whole album, artist or folder and edit hundreds of songs at once. • Set album, album artist, year, genre or a cover for every selected song. • Tags from filename: turn "03 - Artist - Title.mp3" into proper tags with a pattern such as %track% - %artist% - %title%. • Filename from tags: rename files from their tags so they sort correctly on any device. • Auto-number tracks in the order you choose, with the total filled in. • Clean up names: fix capitalisation and strip junk such as "(Official Video)", "[HQ]" or website names. • A preview shows every change before anything is written. SMART LOOKUP Missing an album or a year? Tagsmith searches the open MusicBrainz database by artist and title, or by the filename when the tags are empty, and lists matching releases with their track numbers and dates. Pick one and the fields fill in; you review them before saving. Only the search text is sent, never your files. LIBRARY HEALTH SCAN One scan finds songs without album art, "Unknown artist" and blank titles, albums with mixed album artist values and duplicate songs. Each problem comes with a fix list, so you can clean up a messy library step by step. ALL COMMON FORMATS MP3 (ID3v2.3 and ID3v2.4), FLAC, M4A and AAC, OGG Vorbis, Opus and WAV. Tags and covers are written in the format each player expects. CONVERT FOR THE CAR Old car stereo that only plays MP3? Convert FLAC, WAV or M4A to MP3 with the built-in encoder, and the tags and cover art come along. The original file is left untouched. SAFE BY DESIGN • Every save is written to a temporary copy first, read back to verify, and only then replaces the original. A failed write never damages a song. • Android asks for your permission before Tagsmith changes a file; the app never asks for access to all your files. • An edit history lets you undo recent changes. • Your music stays on your phone. There is no account and nothing is uploaded. WHAT YOU GET Free: edit every field of a song, add art from your gallery, run 10 smart lookups a day, scan your library and convert to MP3 at 192 kbps.
