Some UFO hits yield modest bonuses while others yield exceptional rewards, making consistent UFO targeting a high-variance scoring strategy that is worth pursuing in long sessions. Players who can reliably time UFO shots while maintaining their formation clearing rhythm gain a meaningful cumulative advantage in extended high-score sessions. In Tournament mode, a particularly high UFO bonus can swing the Space Invaders contribution to the combined score significantly, adding an exciting variable to tournament results. Space Invaders is offline at 60fps; UFO behavior is self-contained and requires no internet.
