Add loads: reactions, shear, moment, deflection diagrams. H-beam check, site PDF
Add loads to a beam and the reactions, shear diagram, moment diagram and deflection appear as drawings. BeamPocket then checks whether your H-beam holds: stress and deflection against allowable values, stamped OK or NG. Member checks pile up per job site and export as one PDF.
A beam calculator for civil and building technicians, steel erectors and students, for a quick estimate and a record before the formal calculation report.

■ Please read first
· Not a substitute for a structural calculation report. It is for rough checks and records. Permits and construction decisions belong to a licensed structural engineer's calculations.
· Lateral-torsional buckling, local buckling, web crippling, load combinations and connections are not checked. Beams are assumed fully braced.
· Allowable stresses, elastic modulus and deflection limits are defaults on the Criteria screen: common Korean practice values (0.6Fy bending, 0.4Fy shear, L/360). Replace them with the values of your own code (AISC, Eurocode, etc.). Each shows a source and date; unverified values are marked "Needs check". One tap restores defaults.
· Units: metric (kN·m·mm·MPa) or US customary (kip·ft·in·ksi). US-English devices start in US customary; switch in More. Math and saved data stay SI inside.
· No account, no server, no permissions. Records stay on this phone.
■ Beam analysis: 4 supports, 3 load types
· Simply supported, cantilever, fixed-fixed, and two-span continuous (spans may differ)
· Stack several point loads, uniform loads and partial uniform loads (down is positive, positions from the left end)
· Per support: reaction and fixed-end moment. Also max positive and negative moment with location, max shear, max deflection per span with location
· Indeterminate beams are solved in closed form. Peak moment is found exactly where shear crosses zero
■ The drawing is the star
Beam, supports, load arrows and exaggerated deflected shape, with the shear diagram (SFD) and bending moment diagram (BMD) below and peak values marked. Tap or drag along the drawing to read shear, moment and deflection at that point.
■ Section properties
· Rectangle (b×h), round (d), pipe (D×t), H-beam (H×B×tw×tf with fillet r)
· Area A, moment of inertia I and elastic section modulus Z
· 15 common H-beam sizes fill in the dimensions with a tap. Properties are computed from the dimensions, which were checked against the Korean KS H-beam table; the preset list is KS (metric) sizes
· Turn on self-weight to add area × density as a uniform load
■ Stress and deflection check
Bending stress σ = M/Z, shear stress τ (rectangle 1.5V/A, round 4V/3A, pipe VQ/It, H-beam web average) and deflection δ are compared with allowable values, shown as ratio bars and OK/NG. Choose SS275, SM355 or enter your own material.
■ Job-site member log
"Save this member" adds it to the current job site (e.g. Office Annex, 2nd floor). The allowable values used that day are saved with it, so changing criteria later never alters old records. Reopen a member in the calculator to edit it.
· Site PDF: A4 per member with beam drawing, shear and moment diagrams, reactions and check table. Preview, save or share
· CSV: the same data for spreadsheets
■ On first launch
A sample site (three members: simple beam, two-span continuous beam, an over-limit cantilever) is ready to tap. One tap on "Clear samples" removes it. Sample values were verified against separate textbook calculations.
■ Backup and contact
Export job sites, members and criteria as one file and restore on a new phone. If records exist and the last backup is over 30 days old, you get one reminder on the home screen. Questions or bugs: use "Contact" inside the app.
■ Who it is for
Civil and building site technicians, steel erection crews, retrofit and fit-out reviewers, and students studying structural mechanics.
