4Dictate

Dictation, not voice typing. Voice typing puts down each word as you say it. 4Dictate lets you say the whole thought first, then turns it into finished text: punctuated, corrected and, if you choose, tidied into your own style. Then it types it into the app you are using, whether that's messages, email, notes, documents, the browser or even a terminal. Your keyboard stays as it is. SPEAK, THEN IT WRITES • Start and stop with a keyboard key, a volume key, the floating button, the edit pad, a gesture or your watch. • The whole recording is transcribed in one go, with sentences and punctuation. • Your replacement rules fix the words the recogniser always gets wrong, and your names list keeps people and products spelt right. • Say brackets, quotes and hyphens when you want them: "re hyphen pairing". • Say "numerical" before a PIN or code: "numerical nine nine nine nine" types 9999. • End with "press send" and it presses the app's own Send button. Changed your mind? "Scratch that" throws the dictation away. TIDY-UP, YOUR WAY • Turn on tidy-up and an AI edits each dictation before it is typed, following instructions you write: punctuation, filler words, your tone. • Profiles: a Business profile can be formal while your everyday one stays close to what you said. Switch with a swipe, or give each profile its own key or gesture. • Spelling follows your phone's English (British, American, Australian and more) or the one you pick. READ YOUR VOICE MESSAGES • Share a voice message from WhatsApp or another app to 4Dictate and read it instead of playing it out loud. THE EDIT PAD • Slides out from the edge of the screen: punctuation, move and select by word or sentence, delete, cut, copy, paste, undo and redo. • Check fixes grammar and spelling; Rewrite rewords your selection; Undo puts it back. VOICE COMMANDS • Switch to command mode to open apps, control music and scroll by voice. • Make your own phrases for the things you do every day. FROM YOUR WATCH (4WATCH) • On a Wear OS watch, swipe up to dictate, down to stop, left to stop and send. The lower button cancels. • The phone's microphone does the listening, and the watch shows its level and the result. WORKS WITH OUR OTHER APPS • 4Zones: snap windows, change layouts and switch desktops by voice on Samsung DeX and tablets. • More of our apps are on the way, such as tasks and reminders ("remind me tomorrow at three to call Sandra"). Each is a separate app; 4Dictate does everything else without them. Anything that changes something asks you first unless you choose otherwise. YOUR DATA • Bring your own key for Deepgram, OpenAI, Groq and others, or use your own speech server (for example Whisper). You pay the service directly, usually a fraction of a penny per dictation. • No account, no server of ours, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. • Every recording is kept on your phone with its transcript: play it back, retry it, or delete it. • Send your settings to your other phone or tablet with Quick Share. Your keys stay on each device. 4Dictate uses an Android accessibility service to type into other apps. It explains exactly what that service does before you switch it on.
