MedSim: Virtual Patients

Tonight's ward is full. Talk to your patients, examine them, then make your diagnosis. MedSim is a practice ward for medical students and junior doctors. Each patient is played by AI and keeps to their own story: the history comes out only if you ask the right questions, in your own words, the way it does on the ward. TALK TO YOUR PATIENT Ask by voice, as you would at the bedside, or type your questions. Patients speak English, Egyptian Arabic or Saudi Arabic, so you can practise the consultations you will really have. EXAMINE AND INVESTIGATE Choose a tool and tap where it goes on the patient. Listen with the stethoscope (headphones help with soft heart sounds). Order the tests you need: results come at once, with how long they would really take, ECGs included. DIAGNOSE AND PLAN Choose the most likely diagnosis and up to two other possibilities, then write your management plan: what you would give, what you would do next, who you would call. SEE HOW YOU DID The AI marks the whole consultation against the case: what you asked and what you missed, your examination, your diagnosis and your plan. If a mark looks wrong, report it from the results; we read every report. YOUR PATIENT IN YOUR ROOM On phones that support augmented reality, put the examination couch on your own floor and walk around the patient. Elsewhere, the patient waits in a 3D examination room. Search by complaint or specialty, or take the next bed. EXAMS AND OSCE Mock exams in each exam's own format: SMLE, EMLE, Gulf licensing, USMLE Step 2 CK, PLAB 1 · UKMLA, MRCP Part 1, MRCS Part A, AMC, MCCQE and finals, with 470 original questions and real X-rays and ECGs. OSCE stations run against the clock and are marked in PLAB 2's domains.
