One knight. One wooden board. A crowd of enemy pieces that all want the same squares you do. Ruskino Blitz puts a single knight in the middle of a board packed with hostile attackers and asks one question over and over: where can you land and stay safe? Dots appear on every square your knight is legally allowed to jump to. Smoke covers every square the enemy pieces control. Somewhere in that overlap sits exactly one square that is both a legal knight jump and free of smoke. Find it and tap it. The catch is the blitz bar. It starts draining the moment the position appears, and when it empties your turn is over. There is no time to count squares one by one or trace every attacker's reach with your finger. You learn to read the smoke as a shape, spot the gap, and commit. Then the knight lands, the enemies recalculate their coverage, and a brand new puzzle snaps into place where the old one stood. Each level asks for a required number of jumps in a row, so a single lucky guess will not carry you — you have to keep finding the safe square again and again until the count is filled. That loop is what makes it a blitz game rather than a chess problem. The knight's L-shaped jump is the only movement rule you need to know, and the game shows you your options directly with dots, so you never have to memorize notation or openings. What you are actually training is pattern recognition under pressure: the instinct that tells you which corner of the board just got dangerous and which one just opened up. Across 15 levels the pressure climbs from three directions at once. The boards grow larger, so there is more ground to scan. The attackers grow heavier, so the smoke spreads wider and the safe gaps shrink to single squares. And the clock grows shorter, so the comfortable pace of the early boards turns into split-second reading by the end. Early on you can afford to double-check. Later you cannot, and the game starts to feel less like solving and more like reflex. Sessions are short by nature. A jump takes a second, a level takes a handful of them, and you can pick it up for one quick board or push through a whole stage in a sitting. The rules fit in a sentence, the difficulty does not. Tap the safe square. Beat the bar. Do it again.
