The genre detection is continuous and passive: every time you mark a title as Watched, the genre distribution of your completed titles updates. If Action films consistently dominate your completions, Action rises as a detected favorite without any manual configuration. Detected favorites drive Paston's recommendations. The genres that appear most frequently in your Watched list are the ones Paston prioritizes when suggesting unwatched titles, creating a direct feedback loop between your viewing habits and the suggestions you receive. The detection also surfaces in Paston's statistics. The genre bar chart on the Statistics screen is a visual representation of the same genre distribution that drives recommendations, so your detected favorites are visible and transparent, not hidden inside an algorithm. Favorite genre detection is entirely on-device and private. Your genre preferences are derived from your local data, never shared with any external service, and updated instantly every time your Watched list changes, no account or internet required.
