Find duplicate and similar photos. You pick what goes; nothing else moves.
Duplicate Photo Cleaner finds the photos you have twice, puts them side by side and lets you decide what goes. Nothing is deleted unless you pick it.
WHAT IT FINDS
• Exact duplicates — the same file, byte for byte, matched by a content hash.
• Similar photos — an on-device perceptual hash with an adjustable threshold.
• Bursts — shots taken within seconds of each other.
• Duplicate videos — matched byte for byte, not by name or thumbnail.
Every group tells you why it was grouped: "Identical file", or "Very similar, 3 bits apart".
SPACE YOU'VE SAVED
• A card on the home screen tracks the total space you've freed, your last scan date, and how many new photos have arrived since then.
• The count only grows when a deletion actually happens — nothing is counted until you confirm.
SCREENSHOT SWEEP
• A separate list shows old screenshots by themselves — not duplicates, just screenshots you probably forgot about.
• Nothing is pre-selected here either. Pick an age filter (30/90/180 days) and decide for yourself.
LARGE VIDEOS
• A third list — also not duplicates — shows your biggest videos first, with a 50/100/500MB size filter. Same rule: nothing is pre-selected, and only a confirmed deletion counts toward the lifetime saved total.
CLEANUP REMINDER (OPTIONAL)
• Turn on an optional reminder — monthly or every two weeks — that tells you how many new photos piled up since your last scan.
• Off by default. If you don't turn it on, you get no notifications at all.
YOU DECIDE WHAT GOES
• Nothing is pre-selected. There is no "select all" default.
• The app may suggest keeping the largest and newest photo. A suggestion is not a choice.
• A review screen lists exactly which photos will go and how much space that frees, per group and total.
• Want to move faster? "Select the others in every group" picks the suggested copy to keep in every group at once — you choose how far it goes (identical files only, identical + bursts, or similar too), and you still review and confirm before anything is deleted.
DELETION GOES THROUGH ANDROID
• Photos go to the system Recycle Bin first, where Android keeps them for about 30 days.
• Android shows its own confirmation dialog. If you dismiss it, nothing happens and your selection stays.
• Permanent deletion exists, but it is a separate action behind its own confirmation.
ON YOUR PHONE ONLY
• Photos are analysed on the device. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account and no server.
• The app reads file names, sizes, dates and the pictures themselves, to compare them and nothing else.
• It asks for photo library access because duplicates can only be found by looking at the whole library — the system photo picker only shows photos you've already picked.
• If you share only selected photos on Android 14 and newer, the app says so and scans just those.
NO ADS BETWEEN SCAN AND DELETE
• The whole clean-up flow — scan, review, delete — stays free of interruptions. No full-screen ad shows up between starting a scan and finishing a deletion.
BEING HONEST ABOUT LIMITS
• "Similar" is a heuristic. It can group photos that are not really the same, and it can miss ones that are. You look, and you decide.
• This app does not promise a "safe" clean-up and never deletes on its own.
• On Android 10 and older there is no system Recycle Bin an app can use. On those versions the app will not delete anything: it shows you the duplicates and leaves the deleting to your gallery app.
ALSO IN THE APP
• Scan progress with a cancel button and results that fill in as it goes.
• A hash cache keyed to each file, so a second scan is quick.
• Folders to ignore, such as Screenshots.
• 31 app languages and a dark interface.
• Free with ads. Removing ads is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
