Explore ships on the map, view recorded tracks and save your favourites.
Vesselbird brings ships into view. Explore publicly received AIS positions on an interactive maritime map and open details for individual vessels.
• Search and filter by name, MMSI, vessel type and update age
• Colour-coded markers for different vessel types
• View recorded tracks from the last 10 days where data is available
• Create your own filters and multiple favourite lists
• Optional verified email account for collections across devices
• Display your own position and centre the map on it when requested
• English and German interfaces
You can use the map without signing in. Without an account, filters and favourites remain in the app's local cookies. With an account, your collections are saved on the server. Location access is optional and requested only after pressing the location button; the app does not track your location in the background.
Vesselbird combines several publicly available vessel data sources. Coverage depends on their reception areas and availability. Positions may be missing, delayed or inaccurate; complete worldwide live coverage is not offered. History is built from received and available archived data.
An internet connection and Android System WebView are required. The app is for information and exploration and is unsuitable for navigation or safety-critical decisions.
The same app is called Kursblick in German. Its name follows the supported device language rather than your current country.
