Familiar: Reading Tracker

You are a reading mage, and every mage needs a familiar. Yours lives on mana, and mana comes from pages. Familiar is a reading tracker with a pixel-art pet. Read, and it hatches from an egg, grows through five stages and changes with what you read. Forget about books and it slowly turns to stone, until a few pages break the spell. Free, no ads, no account. 🥚 FOURTEEN FAMILIARS • Mimic, kitsune, slime, dragon, phoenix, griffin, owlbear, moon moth, tanuki, sprout, ghost, bookworm, chimera and magpie • Each loves its own kind of reading: long books, night reading, streaks, audiobooks, horror, a new genre after the last • Three can hatch at the start; the rest are found by reading • A grown familiar takes one of five forms after the books it was fed on: astral, shadow, bloom, sage or wild • Every egg hatches with a nature of its own, and one in sixteen hatches shining, in a rare colouring 🕯 THE RITUAL • A candle that burns down while you read, a big "turn the page" button, a fireplace or rain • Lay the phone face down and the familiar dozes on your lap: quiet time feeds a bonus • Read or listen: switch any book to its audio version, sitting by sitting • Read on the train? Log the page you reached, or just the minutes • After each sitting, a feast: pages, candlelight, stillness, its favourite, a finished book 🏠 THE DEN • Every mana leaves a spark, and sparks buy furniture: a window with the real day or night, a bookshelf in the colours of your finished books, a cauldron, a telescope, fairy lights • Stroke your familiar and it purrs; after midnight it sleeps • Finds from the stories, dreams after evening reading, seasonal holidays 📚 YOUR LIBRARY • Find books in Fantlab and Open Library with real covers, or type them in and pick your own picture • Shelves, cycles with volumes, your own genres and subgenres • Search, filter and sort the whole library • The familiar's draw when you can't choose what to read next 📊 THE LEDGER AND THE SAGA • Your pace in pages an hour, overall and by genre • When you read most, and your best day of the week • Six months side by side, and the day you'll finish your current book • A goal for the year with your pace against it • The tree of stories: every finished book grows a glowing fruit • The saga: your year told as a legend, with a square for every day of reading ALSO • Monthly guild errands, guardian candles that keep a streak on a quiet day • Visits: show a QR code and your familiar stays in a friend's den for a day, phone to phone • A postcard of your familiar to share, an evening reminder, a home-screen widget • Backup to a file • English and Russian • Free and open source (MIT) Your reading stays on your phone. The app goes online only when you search for a book.

New in 1.7: • The shelf as spines on wooden planks, cycles too. • The month in covers: a calendar with the book of each day, and the year in covers. • The ledger counts finished books: genres, stars, lengths, authors, month by month. • The tree in three pages: Overview, Calendar, the ledger. • A clearer den: mana and feeding under the familiar, pick which open book to read. • A cycle shows the next volume.
