A clock you can trust for rally controls: capture cars, log, and hand over.
Rally Clock is a timing and log app for rally control workers: a clock you can trust, one big button to capture cars, and a log that gets to scoring without anyone retyping a paper sheet at midnight.
It captures data. It doesn't score. Paper keeps running alongside, and if the phone dies, nothing is lost.
TIMING A CONTROL
• Pick what your control is: Start Control, Flying Finish, Stop Control, ATC, MTC and the rest. The screen changes to suit it.
• CAPTURE is pressed on finger-down, with a lockout so one car doesn't register twice.
• Car numbers on a big keypad, with letters a tap away. Capture first if you missed the car number, and add it afterwards.
• Start control: a countdown to each car's minute, with the gap between cars you choose.
• Stop control: type in finish times relayed from the flying finish.
• Notes for a car or for the control: a hold, a red flag, a crew on foot.
• Void, never delete: a crossed-out row keeps its place, which is what scoring needs.
A CLOCK YOU CAN TRUST
• Set it from an internet time server, copy another device at the stage, use satellite time, or set it by hand at the top of a minute.
• The phone's own clock is never changed. If it jumps, Rally Clock holds steady and says so.
• Every clock correction is written into the log, so scoring can allow for it.
• Accuracy is shown, not assumed: a copy says how closely it matched, such as ±5 ms.
GETTING THE LOGS BACK
• Hand over to a sweep car or HQ over a Wi-Fi network or phone hotspot. No internet or phone signal needed. A simple travel hotspot works great for providing the basic network.
• Handing over copies the log: the control keeps everything. Hand over as often as you like; only new or changed rows are added.
• Collecting devices pass on everything they hold, so a sweep car can hand its whole collection to HQ.
• Review shows which controls are short, and by which cars.
• Export as a spreadsheet (CSV) or data file (JSONL) through the share sheet.
EVENT SETUP
• An organizer fills in the event once. A course car hands it out, and each volunteer picks their control from a list. Event information can also be edited by hand on each device. It's up to you.
TRIP METERS
• Several trip meters, from GPS speed, in miles or kilometers.
• They keep counting with the screen locked in its mount and while you use other apps.
• Calibrate against an event's official odometer check.
• Reset takes a long press, and offers Undo.
LAP TIMER
• START as the car first crosses the line, CAPTURE every lap, STOP on the cool-down. Each lap shows its gap to the best.
ALSO
• Controls on the left for a left thumb.
• Device-theme aware.
PRIVACY
No accounts, no ads, no analytics. Your data stays on your device unless you hand it over or share it. Your position is never stored or sent.
Novità
Rally Clock 1.0: timing and logs for the controls of stage rallies.
• After a hand-over, "Moving on to another stage?" is now asked even if you've already left the log page.
• A device handing out a setup now shows the event of the setup it hands out, and other devices update the name when it changes.
• After a restart, the clock line asks you to check the clock, and warns if the device then moves its own clock.
