A calm sun tracker for dark winters: today's light as a living sky.
Daylight shows today's light as a living sky instead of a table of times. It is made for getting through dark winters: honest about how little light is left today, and always showing that the light is coming back.
A WINDOW, NOT A CLOCK
The sky on your screen matches the real sky outside. The sun sits in the middle; its path runs across the next 24 hours. The bright stretch ahead of the sun is the daylight you have left today. At night, a dotted ember path counts down to sunrise, and the dawn glow brightens as it gets close.
SEE THE DAYS GROW
Tiny marks at sunrise and sunset show how the edges of the day moved since yesterday and where they go tomorrow. Three bars compare yesterday, today and tomorrow. Before the darkest day you see how many days until the light turns; after it, how much light you have gained since.
THE YEAR'S LIGHT
Tap through to the whole year centred on today: the daylight you have gained since the solstice, the days still to go, and your next light milestone, like the first sunrise before 7 am or the first sunset after 5 pm.
NUMBERS ON REQUEST
Press and hold the sky to see sunrise, sunset, daylight left and the change since yesterday. Let go and the sky is all that is left. Screen readers always hear every figure.
WIDGETS
Small and medium home-screen widgets show the same sky, with the day's change and the season's direction at a glance.
A GENTLE NUDGE, IF YOU WANT ONE
An optional reminder, at most once a day, to step outside while the light lasts. Off until you turn it on; one tap turns it off for good.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account, no ads, no analytics, and it never needs an internet connection. Your approximate location is asked for once (or pick a city instead) and every sun calculation happens on your phone.
EXACT EVERYWHERE
Polar night, the midnight sun, daylight saving changes and the southern hemisphere are all handled, from Tromsø to Sydney.
Daylight is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat any condition. If winter is weighing on you, talk to a doctor.
