HOW MAGIC CHESS WORKS Both kings start face up. Each side's other 15 pieces start hidden. A hidden piece moves like the piece that normally stands on its starting square. After its first move it reveals its identity and keeps that movement for the rest of the game. Each side's pool holds 8 pawns, 2 rooks, 2 knights, 2 bishops and 1 queen, and every reveal draws from that pool. Checkmate is still the goal. LEARN ON THE BOARD Interactive lessons walk you through moving and revealing, capturing hidden pieces, castling, promotion and check. Watch, follow, then try it yourself. Hint arrows show a move to consider and leave the move to you.
