Before a limb leaves the stem, the line has to be able to hold it. 🌲 Pute Kralo works out what a pick will actually put through your rigging, step by step. 🧮 MEASURE THE PIECE 📏 Photograph it on the bench screen, tap the two ends of a reference of known length to set the scale, then tap butt to tip and across the trunk. Those taps become length, mean diameter, volume and green mass, using the density of the timber species you picked. 🌳 CHOOSE THE SYSTEM ⚙️ Ten lowering systems in the library, from lowering from above to a line across a gap, each with its static multiplier, its dynamic range and the anchor resultant set out on the system sheet. SOLVE THE PICK 📊 Set the drop height and the tension trace draws the whole event - lift, cut, fall, arrest, lower - with the peak marked and your rated limit ruled across it. Peak line tension, anchor load, holding force and the margin left are read off beside it. 📈 CHECK IT AGAINST YOUR OWN KIT 🪢 Toggle in the blocks, slings, hardware and friction gear you actually carry, and peak line tension is checked against the weakest item on the rack, with the limiting component named. ARITHMETIC YOU CAN SEE 🔢 Mass and force in kilograms or pounds, a design factor of 5:1, 7:1 or 10:1, fresh-felled or part-seasoned timber density, and a trace at 40 or 80 samples. THE SCHEDULE 📋 The whole plan held pick by pick, so a day's rigging can be worked through before anything is cut.
