Char Count is a clean, focused text utility that calculates character, word, sentence, and byte statistics in real time as you type or paste your text. It is designed for essays, job applications, social media character limits, and everyday writing tasks. ◆ Real-Time Text Statistics - Character Counts: View total characters with spaces and pure characters without spaces side by side. - Words and Sentences: Track word counts separated by spaces and sentence counts based on punctuation marks. - Paragraphs: Count paragraphs based on active lines containing text. - Byte Calculations: Check approximate byte counts based on Korean form conventions (Korean 2 bytes, Latin 1 byte / EUC-KR convention) alongside standard UTF-8 byte sizes to match your submission platform. - Manuscript Pages: Automatically estimate 200-character manuscript page counts. - Time Estimates: View estimated reading time (silent reading) and speaking time (oral presentation). ◆ Goal Tracking and Limit Alerts - Flexible Metric Selection: Set a goal by words, characters with spaces, characters without spaces, or bytes. - Clear Visual Feedback: Monitor your progress, remaining counts, or exceeded counts at a glance in the counts area at the bottom. - Goal Reached Notification: Receive a visual highlight and a sound cue (can be turned off in Settings) when your target goal is reached. Exceeded numbers are highlighted in red. ◆ Fast and Convenient Writing Tools - One-Tap Copy: Tap the copy button above the keyboard to copy your entire draft with your thumb in a single action. - Clipboard Paste: Quickly paste copied text from other apps to inspect its metrics immediately. - Safe Deletion: Confirm before clearing your draft to prevent accidental text loss. - Local Auto-Draft: Your text is automatically saved in your device's local storage, allowing you to resume writing even after closing the app. ◆ Appearance and Behavior Customization - Theme Modes: Choose between System default, Light theme, or Dark theme. - Sound and Haptics: Toggle copy and goal audio effects, as well as touch vibration feedback. - Line Break Byte Rules: Adjust newline byte count to 1 byte or 2 bytes to match the specific rules of your submission portal. - Korean Counts Toggle: Customize the metrics dock to prioritize Korean form metrics (characters without spaces, bytes, and manuscript pages). ◆ Limitations and Offline Privacy - Your text stays on your device: Typed text is stored locally and is never sent to external servers. - No registration or login required: Start counting right away without creating an account. - Byte count disclaimer: Because different platforms and application portals use different counting algorithms and encodings, byte numbers are calculated as approximations (Korean 2-byte/ASCII 1-byte EUC-KR convention or UTF-8). You can adjust newline byte rules or switch criteria in Settings to match your submission requirements. - Note management: This app is a dedicated counter and does not support multi-note storage, folder organization, or cloud sync. ◆ Advertising and Data Safety - This app is free to use and contains a banner ad at the bottom of the screen. - For ad delivery, analytics, and fraud prevention, Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) SDK may transmit encrypted advertising IDs, approximate location (IP), device information, and ad interaction logs to Google LLC. - You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your device settings. - This app is for a general audience and is not directed at children.
