Raxolmivante Blitz

Raxolmivante Blitz puts you above a snow course, looking straight down on a wooden twin-runner sled as it picks up speed. There is no steering wheel and no brake. The whole sled is controlled by the two halves of your screen, and the bends are won or lost in the fraction of a second it takes you to decide which half to press. Hold the left half and the left runner locks. Hold the right half and the right runner locks. A locked runner bites into the snow and the sled pivots around it, swinging the tail out into a long drift that carries you through the curve. The timing of the release matters as much as the timing of the hold: let go the instant the apex is behind you and the sled straightens out with its speed intact. Hold a moment too long and you are still turning when the course has already stopped turning, drifting wide towards the loose snow at the edge. Staying on the groomed snow is the second half of the job. The packed centre of the course is where the runners grip and where the sled keeps its pace, so every drift has to be shaped to finish back on the good surface. Flag gates mark the line through each bend, and threading them one after another turns a run from a series of recoveries into a single connected rhythm of locks, pivots and releases. And you are not running alone. A rival sled travels the parallel tracks beside you, close enough to watch out of the corner of your eye. It does not need to be pushed aside or outmanoeuvred, only beaten to the finish line, which means every bend is a small wager: a tighter drift to gain ground, or a safer one to keep what you have. There are 14 courses to work through, each with its own sequence of bends to learn and its own places where greed costs you the lead. Early runs are about realising which runner to lock. Later ones are about chaining the pivots together so cleanly that the sled never truly leaves the fast snow at all — a whole descent taken in one breath, with the rival behind you at the line. Simple to pick up, with two halves of a screen and a sled that answers instantly. Hard to master, because the snow remembers every late release.
