Moonvane: Moon Phase Tracker

Moonvane shows tonight's moon the way you actually look for it: drag the moon to travel through hours and days, and watch the phase, light and moon age change as you go. Every time comes with its date. "Moonrise 5:22 PM · Mon, Oct 26" — so you never have to guess which night a full moon rises. NO LOCATION PERMISSION Moonvane never asks for your location. It guesses a city from your time zone, and you can pick any of 15,000+ cities from a list built into the app. Moonrise, moonset and the moon's height above the horizon are calculated for that city, right on your phone. WHAT YOU GET • Moon phase today: name, % lit, moon age to one decimal, distance and the zodiac sign the moon is in • Drag the moon (or the time ruler) to see any hour of any day, then tap "Back to now" • Moonrise and moonset with the date beside every time, plus a simple arc that shows where the moon is now • Moon calendar: every night's moon shape for the month, full moons and eclipses marked • Go to any date — see the moon on the night you were born and share it as a card • Moon events for the next 12 months: full moons with their traditional names, new moons, quarters, supermoons, micromoons, blue moons, lunar and solar eclipses • Ring the bell on the events you care about and get one quiet line that morning. Nothing else • Optional morning moon summary: tonight's phase, light and moonrise in one line • Moon diary: mark the nights you saw the moon, add a note and share a month sheet — handy for school moon observation logs • Home screen widget with tonight's moon, % lit and days to the full moon • Southern hemisphere view (the moon is shown the way you see it south of the equator) • Light and dark themes ACCURATE AND OFFLINE Moon positions follow the methods in Jean Meeus' Astronomical Algorithms. Phase times are within about a minute. Everything works offline; no account, no sign-up. Great for gardeners, anglers, hunters, campers, photographers, stargazers looking for dark new-moon nights, astrology fans and anyone who simply loves looking up. Moonvane is supported by ads. There is no subscription.
