Chicken Road

Chicken Road is an easy-to-use tool for planning frost protection of plants on a patio. It lets you enter the night’s forecast low temperature and see which of your plants fall into the cover zone based on their RHS hardiness rating. The app displays each plant on a true temperature axis with the RHS scale from H1a to H7. You can add your own plants by entering the rating on the label or choose from nine pre‑loaded garden favourites such as dahlia or rosemary. You set the cover margin, for example 2 °C, and the app highlights the plants that need protection when the patio temperature reaches the lower limit of their rating. Recommended actions such as moving to a porch, applying fleece layers or mulching the crown are shown for each plant. A Nights chart compares the forecast for open ground with the colder patio reading. By entering the previous night’s max‑min thermometer values each morning, the app calculates how much colder your patio runs and automatically applies that adjustment to the next forecast. All content is included in the app and works completely offline. With Chicken Road, your favorites, notes, progress, and personal data are stored only on your device, with no registration, accounts, or cloud synchronization required.
