Tolvera Wave

Tolvera Wave is a calculator for synth patches. You build a stack of oscillators, and the app tells you exactly what that stack is doing — frequency by frequency, cent by cent, decibel by decibel. Start by adding an oscillator. Pick its waveform, set its octave, nudge its detune in cents, and choose its level. Add another, and another, up to six in a single patch. Every time you change a value, the readout recomputes: the exact frequency each oscillator is sounding, the beat rate produced by your detuned pairs, the harmonic content of the whole stack drawn as bars, and the output headroom you have left before the sum runs out of room. That beat rate is the number most people are hunting for. Detune two oscillators a few cents apart and they slowly phase against each other; detune them further and the shimmer turns into a wobble. Tolvera Wave puts the actual figure in front of you instead of leaving you to guess, and it reports the thickest beat in the stack so you know which pair is doing the most work. The harmonic bars show what your choice of waveforms is really stacking up. Pile several bright waveforms into the same octave and you can watch the upper harmonics crowd together; spread the stack across octaves and the picture thins out. Alongside it, the headroom figure keeps an honest count of your levels, so a patch that looks fine on each individual oscillator does not quietly add up to more than the output can carry. Tuning setup handles the reference frame. Set the reference pitch, choose the root note the stack is built from, and select the unit you want the readout in. Change the reference and every frequency in the patch follows it, which makes the app just as useful for an ensemble tuned away from the usual standard as for one sitting on it. Patches can be named and saved, then placed side by side for comparison. Keep the version with the gentle detune next to the version with the aggressive one, line up two voicings of the same chord, or hold on to a reliable starting point while you experiment around it. The saved list becomes a working notebook of stacks you understand, each with its own numbers attached.
