Description

Route, speed, braking and lean angle for every ride, replayed second by second.

MotoTracker turns your phone into a ride recorder for your motorcycle. Mount it, tap Start, and it logs where you went and how you rode: speed, acceleration, braking and lean angle, on a dashboard you can read at a glance. Live dashboard • Speed from GPS, large enough to read from the handlebars. • Lean angle on a gauge from −60° to +60°, with the deepest lean of the ride marked on each side. • Acceleration and braking as a bar that fills from the centre, with the peaks of the ride kept beside it. • Distance, duration and the route on a map that follows you. • Status lights for GPS accuracy, sensor rate and calibration, so you know when the numbers can be trusted. Replay • Every saved ride plays back second by second on the same instruments, with the marker moving along the route. • A speed and lean chart shows the whole ride; tap or drag it to jump anywhere. • 1×, 2× and 4× playback. Rides • Rides are saved on your phone with a sample for every second: position, speed, course, acceleration and lean. • The history lists them with their peaks; swipe to delete, with Undo. • Export any ride as a GPX file to share or open in other tools. Speed and course use the common TrackPointExtension so most GPX apps read them. Keeps recording • Recording continues when the screen is off or another app is in front, with a notification while it runs. • The screen stays on while the dashboard is showing. How lean is measured A phone's tilt sensor reads "upright" in a balanced corner, because gravity and the cornering force add up to point straight through the tyres. MotoTracker uses the turn physics instead: lean follows from your speed and the rate you are turning, measured by the gyroscope. Expect a few degrees of error with a rigid mount, and more on a loose one. At standstill the gauge shows plain tilt, which lets you check the mount. Mounting Mount the phone with the screen facing you, portrait or landscape, at any tilt. Start the ride while the bike stands upright: the first second calibrates the mount. The forward direction is then learned from your first firm acceleration or braking. Privacy Your rides stay on your phone. There are no accounts, no ads and no analytics. Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap, which means the tile server sees which area you are looking at. Exports go only where you send them. Permissions • Location: to record speed and route. • Physical activity is not requested; the motion sensors need no permission. • Notifications: to show that a ride is being recorded. Maps © OpenStreetMap contributors.
