Read gyroscope rotation rates, check tilt and rpm, save sessions, export CSV
Gyroscope readings reveal how your phone rotates: view live roll, pitch and yaw rates, their combined rate and orientation angles. Switch between degrees per second, radians per second and rpm. Use the moving gauge and axis charts to explore motion in a lesson, observe a controlled pan or compare repeated movements. Readings are approximate and depend on the phone's motion sensors.
RECORD A MOTION SESSION
Start a recording, move the phone and stop to review active duration, peak and average rotation rate, plus the peak on each axis. A second-by-second trend holds up to 30 minutes of points. Saving requires at least two active seconds and enough recorded samples; a brief tap on the controls may not produce a saved result. The history keeps the latest 50 sessions for review and deletion.
UNDERSTAND THE SETTINGS
Sampling can be requested at 10 Hz or 50 Hz; delivery depends on the device. The first 20 recording samples check the resting offset, so hold still at the start. Zero provides a fresh reference. Sensitivity from 0.5× to 2× scales displayed and recorded rates, not the angles. Keep the setting consistent when comparing sessions. The combined rate readout is capped at 500°/s.
CSV FOR YOUR NOTES
Export the current recording, with a buffer of up to 18,000 samples, or export saved session data. CSV rates remain in degrees per second regardless of the display unit. Raw recording capacity is about 30 minutes at 10 Hz or six minutes at 50 Hz; saved history contains session summaries and trend points rather than the full raw buffer. Recording suspends while the app is in the background and resumes the same session when you return.
LEVEL, ATTITUDE AND SENSOR CHECK
Use the accelerometer-based bubble level to inspect tilt and calibrate against a trusted flat surface. The guide explains the 180° surface check. An artificial horizon shows attitude, with a resettable gyro-derived heading and a zero relative to a mounted position. Heading drifts over time and has no magnetic reference. A 10-second stationary sensor check reports bias and noise per axis; movement can abort the check. It describes sensor readings, not a repair or a medical test.
TURNTABLE RPM
Compare yaw-axis rotation with 33⅓, 45 and 78 rpm targets and see the percentage deviation. A 10-second Wow & Flutter test estimates speed variation from phone motion. It does not analyze sound. For unit reference, 360°/s equals 60 rpm.
LIMITS AND QUESTIONS
Why do angles drift? Integrated gyroscope readings accumulate offset; re-zero when needed and avoid strong vibration. Can this replace a calibrated level, navigation instrument or audio test system? No: use suitable instruments for critical work. Compatible motion sensors are required, and the phone's placement, movement and sensitivity setting affect the result. The guide explains axes, units and measuring steps.
The app contains advertisements and uses Firebase Analytics and network services for ads and configuration. Treat rotation, tilt and turntable results as phone-sensor estimates, not certified measurements.
Nouveautés
New on Gyro: “Gyroscope data detected” and axis marks for turns of at least 20°/s, showing data received rather than a quality grade. No data after about 3 seconds on screen? “No gyroscope signal” offers “Open Level” to try accelerometer-based Level. Stopping the meter, Sensor Health Check and Attitude also explain the missing signal. A stream failure stops the 10-second check without a result.
