Are You Ready for a Dog?

Getting a dog is one of the biggest lifestyle commitments you can make — but most people only realise that after they've brought one home. Are You Ready for a Dog? helps you find out before it's too late. 🐕 Simulate real dog ownership Choose from 15 popular breeds and go through a step-by-step setup — picking your acquisition source, food type, insurance level, and all the one-off and recurring costs involved. Then simulate daily life: logging morning and evening walks, completing feeding and care tasks, and keeping on top of weekly chores. 🦮 Build a daily walking habit Dogs need walking every single day — no exceptions. The app tracks your daily walks, challenges you to hit 60 minutes total, and keeps a streak going to show whether you can sustain the commitment over days and weeks. ✅ Get into the daily and weekly routine From morning feeds to bowl cleaning and grooming, the app guides you through equivalent tasks so you can experience the rhythm of dog ownership without actually having a dog yet. Streaks for daily and weekly tasks show you how consistent you really are. 💰 Understand the real costs See a full breakdown of one-off costs (microchipping, crate, training classes and more) and recurring costs (food, insurance, grooming, vet checks) — all adjustable so you can model your actual situation. The app projects your estimated annual spend based on the breed and options you've chosen. 📊 See your readiness at a glance The Readiness tab brings it all together — showing your walk consistency, task completion rates, and cost projections side by side, so you can make an honest, informed decision about whether now is the right time to get a dog. No pressure. Just information. This app isn't here to put you off getting a dog — it's here to make sure you go in with your eyes open. Because a dog deserves an owner who is truly ready.
