HOW TO PLAY BACKGAMMON Each turn you roll two dice and move your checkers by those numbers. Hit a lone opposing checker to send it to the bar, block points to protect your own, and bring everything home first. The built-in rules screen explains the backgammon rules step by step, so the game is easy to learn if you are a beginner. Once the checkers have passed each other and it is a pure race, the Auto button lets you play it out in one go. Each game is worth points based on how you win: • 1 point for a single win • 2 points for a gammon • 3 points for a backgammon At first you play single games. Play three of them to unlock matches, and finish one match to unlock the doubling cube. In a match you choose a target of 1, 3, 5, 7 or 11 points, your score carries over from game to game, and the first player to reach the target wins the match. A single game takes about 5 to 7 minutes, a 3-point match about 15 to 20, and an 11-point match an hour or more. The doubling cube is optional. Before you roll, you can double the points of the current game; if your opponent declines, you win the game at the current value. It is available in matches of 3 points or more, and in those matches you can also resign from the flag in the header. When you win a match, its target points are added to your total on the world leaderboard, and your country competes against other countries in a weekly country ranking.
